The app, which has its developers listed as Changsha Shenduronghe Network Technology, is a wholly owned subsidiary of Chinese live-streaming and dating service Momo. After that was pointed out, the backlash has been swift, with users review bombing their iOS listing with negative reviews. The app's privacy policy includes a clause that states the developers get "free, irrevocable, permanent, transferable, and relicense-able" license to all user-generated content. Here’s for Asian representation in Hollywood □ #ZAO #AI #Deepfake /qrSs3VajfL- Allan Xia September 1, 2019īut just like FaceApp, the creators of Zao are now facing backlash because people are worried about their privacy after they use the app. It's likely this is because the developer has only trained the algorithm on these clips to make remapping faces easier. There are however only a limited number of clips you have the option of inserting your face into. However, it appears the app also has a mode to guide you through taking various photos, with different angles and expressions, to make the output even more realistic. Xia says the clips were generated in just eight seconds, and only required him to upload a single photo of himself. Here's an example of me as DiCaprio (generated in under 8 secs from that one photo in the thumbnail) □ /1RpnJJ3wgT- Allan Xia September 1, 2019 Best application of 'Deepfake'-style AI facial replacement I've ever seen. In case you haven't heard, #ZAO is a Chinese app which completely blew up since Friday. Twitter user Allan Xia posted a demonstration of the app online yesterday, showing a 30 second montage of scenes from Leonardo DiCaprio movies, except with his face pasted on the actor's. Though it was just released this past Friday, Bloomberg reports Zao is already at the top of China's iOS free app download charts. Even more crazy is that it can do this to a disturbingly efficient degree using just one photo from you. The gist of it is that it can place your face over another actor in scenes from hundreds of movies and TV shows. The new free app is called Zao, and it's just gone viral in China. This one comes from out of China, and it uses a deepfake-like face swapping mechanism. Now, it looks there's another app going viral that uses AI. Recently, FaceApp was all the rage, using artificial intelligence to age you in photos or change things like your smile.
